Museum quality collection

This fossil of a Triassic Saurichthys (long-snouted fish) is preserved in fine-grained gray sedimentary rock. The specimen clearly displays the characteristic features of this genus: an elongated snout, a streamlined body, and sharp teeth. Saurichthys was a significant predatory fish in Mesozoic oceans—inhabiting seas approximately 250 million years ago during the Triassic period—and was renowned for its high-speed swimming and precision hunting. With its morphology well-preserved, this specimen serves as important fossil material for studying the evolution of early ray-finned fishes.
