雄鹿 carries rich symbolic meaning, representing nobility, vitality, independence and the untamed power of nature.

Above and around the animal appear Greek inscriptions identifying the royal authority of Mithradates Eupator, accompanied by decorative symbols and an elaborate ornamental border.

The stag carries a rich symbolic meaning, representing nobility, vitality, independence and the untamed power of nature.

The beautifully arranged floral and vegetal ornamentation surrounding the central design further enhances the artistic character of this remarkable Hellenistic composition.

Mithradates VI — The King Who Defied Rome

Mithradates VI Eupator ruled the Kingdom of Pontus from approximately 120 to 63 BC and became one of the Roman Republic's most determined adversaries.

An ambitious ruler, brilliant strategist and legendary figure of antiquity, he expanded his influence across the Black Sea region and confronted Rome in the famous Mithridatic Wars.

His extraordinary reputation was further enhanced by ancient accounts of his knowledge of poisons and antidotes, giving rise to the enduring legend of the king who sought to make himself immune to poisoning.

His life became a symbol of royal ambition, intelligence, resistance and the relentless struggle for independence.

A Royal Talisman of Strength and Fortune

Transformed into an impressive wearable pendant, the image of Mithradates acquires a new symbolic dimension.

The royal portrait evokes courage, determination, leadership and resilience, while the sacred stag recalls the protective power of Artemis and the enduring vitality of the natural world.

The combination creates an especially evocative historical talisman, bringing together the imagery of kingship, protection and personal strength.

The large flan, richly textured silver-coloured surface and beautifully sculpted details give this pendant a commanding presence.

Completed with a modern silver-coloured suspension ring and chain, it becomes an elegant and distinctive piece of jewellery inspired by the extraordinary artistic achievements of the Hellenistic age.

A magnificent royal pendant celebrating Mithradates the Great — the legendary King of Pontus, whose courage, ambition and defiance of Rome secured his place among the most unforgettable rulers of antiquity.

Historical attribution: Kingdom of Pontus, Mithradates VI Eupator, reign 120–63 BC.

Coin type: AR tetradrachm design, with royal portrait and stag reverse.

Special features: Impressive broad flan, expressive Hellenistic portrait, elaborate floral ornamentation and striking royal iconography.

Condition and authenticity note: The photographs show the design but do not independently establish that the underlying piece is an authentic ancient silver tetradrachm. Metal composition, dating and authenticity require examination; the suspension ring and chain are modern additions.
