DESCRIPTION:
This original work by Ralf Altrieth unfolds a lush universe where figures, sketched characters, signs and abstract forms intersect in an incessant play of lines and colors. Some presences stand out clearly, while others remain half-hidden in the material. The gaze moves freely, from one appearance to another, never exhausting the richness of the composition.
Between free figuration, instinctive drawing and graphic poetry, the work does not seek to impose a precise reading. It rather leaves the imagination to establish its own associations.
Through its energy and visual density, it first attracts by its abundance and colors, then holds the eye with the multitude of details and presences that progressively reveal themselves.
At the boundary between drawing and painting, this work testifies to a deeply personal language of Ralf Altrieth: a free and instinctive creation, where gesture, imagination and matter meet without ever losing their spontaneity.
CRITIQUE:
"There is a lot of poetry in this painting, as in all the artist’s works. They are populated with narrative codes and fantastical tales. In this sense, the pictorial poems of Ralf Altrieth are a pure childlike chant... But the most astonishing thing manifested in these paintings is a contagious tenderness for the states of the human being."
— Dr. Friedhelm Häring, museum director and art historian
"His writing by gesture and color describes a world open to new voices and experiments never attempted. His canvases and works on paper prove that painting remains a major expression on the contemporary scene."
— Laurent Puech, art historian and curator
BIOGRAPHY :
Ralf Altrieth (Heilbronn, 1966) is a Franco-German painter and musician recognized for his expressive and spontaneous universe, at the boundary of figuration and abstraction. Trained in his teens by painter Georg Schaible and then at the Nürtingen University of the Arts at the end of the 1980s, his work stands out for rare pictorial energy and a particularly sensitive language. His works are now in numerous private collections around the world.
SHIPPING:
The work will be shipped rolled in a solid tube to ensure safe transport.
It is entrusted to an express carrier providing home delivery, with full tracking and signature upon receipt, to guarantee the best protection of the work until it is handed over in person.
NOTE ABOUT THE MARGINS:
The outer margins of the paper show a few marks related to the removal of masking tape. This is completely normal and only affects the unpainted areas. They will be masked by the passe-partout if you choose that method, or can be removed by trimming the work from 75 × 105 cm to 70 × 100 cm (see situational visuals): place the glass on the paper, then cut. Your local framer can handle this easily.
Note: The situational images are presentation suggestions created with AI based on photos of the actual work. The photos of the real object are authoritative (the entire work, close-up details, profile photos and back signature). The hues may vary slightly according to your screen color profile.
