WMF – Exceptional Art Nouveau / Jugendstil Silver-Plated Centerpiece with Original Ceramic Insert – Germany, circa 1900

An exceptional and beautifully preserved Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) centerpiece, manufactured and hallmarked by the renowned German metalware manufacturer WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik).

Dating from approximately 1900–1910, this elegant pedestal stand is a wonderful example of German Jugendstil craftsmanship, combining refined silver-plated metalwork with a removable decorative ceramic insert.

Design and craftsmanship
The centerpiece displays the flowing, organic lines and stylised floral ornamentation characteristic of the Jugendstil movement.

The beautifully executed pedestal base features delicate raised floral motifs, reminiscent of budding flowers, arranged in a harmonious geometric composition. The slender, tapered stem is enhanced by finely engraved horizontal bands.

The generously proportioned circular upper section is particularly impressive, featuring an elaborate repeating border of stylished floral elements, flowing lines and rounded bead-like ornaments.

The combination of polished silver-plated surfaces, sculptural relief decoration and elegant proportions gives this piece a sophisticated and timeless appearance.

WMF – German Jugendstil excellence

Founded in 1853 and established under the name Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik in 1880, WMF became one of Germany's most important manufacturers of decorative metalwork.
