Vintage Certina Pre-DS，Calibre 321，1952

An elegant and historically interesting vintage Certina from 1952, representing the pre-DS generation that preceded the introduction of the famous Certina Double Security system in 1959.

The watch features a gold-plated case measuring 36 mm in diameter, excluding the crown, with beautifully sculpted lugs and a classic mid-century profile. The stainless-steel case back is engraved “CERTINA” and “WATERPROOF”. The early protective construction, including internal metal elements, reflects the development of the durability features that would later become central to Certina’s DS concept.

The champagne-coloured dial has developed a beautiful natural patina over the decades. Applied gold-tone Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock alternate with distinctive faceted hour markers. The elegant, finely shaped gold-tone hands are particularly attractive and harmonise beautifully with the warm dial colour. A recessed small seconds subdial adds to the watch’s refined, traditional appearance.

Inside is the Swiss-made Certina calibre 321, a manual-winding mechanical movement marked “15 Jewels” and “Swiss”. The movement is visible in the photographs and features the traditional architecture of Certina’s early mechanical calibres.

The watch comes with its original period leather strap, preserved in good condition, which complements its authentic vintage character.
