First half 17th century, bronze, used condition
Beautifully patinated bronze aquamanile/jug, stylish old object.
An Aquamanile was used to wash hands for religious/liturgical actions, such as supper, ordinations, baptisms etc.
The window of time for the production considered probably the 17th century.
This Aquamanile is unique, a hanging Aquamanile merged with an old chalice of the altar.
So, the Aquamanile can be used standing. That was already done a long time ago.
The holder, grommets, spout and funnel are massive castings.
The grommets are stylized lion heads.
The spout is a stylized Satyr head.
