1924: Eduard Fuld, banker and aviation enthusiast, was committed to the creation of a national aviation museum.
1936: The National Museum Committee was founded and the collecting of aircraft and related items starts. KLM donates a Fokker F.VII and the Fokker factory donates a DR.1 triplane and an original Spider.
1940: Schiphol is bombed and several museum aircraft are heavily damaged. Some museum pieces are looted and taken to Germany.
