Ancient Roman Bronze Eagle Figurine - Iconic!
Circa 1st-2nd century AD
This bronze eagle figurine stands proudly with its head held high, gazing forward. The broad wings gracefully folded along its sides. The bird is perched atop an integral, flat base.
In ancient Rome, eagles often represented power, strength, and authority. The Roman military extensively used eagle standards, known as "aquilae," as symbols of legionary cohorts. These eagle standards were carried into battle and held great importance, embodying the honour and loyalty of the legion.
