Tang Dynasty Pottery Figure of Female Attendant
Circa 7th-8th century AD
This hollow pottery figure depicts a court lady standing upright. She wears a long, flaring dress, revealing only the tips of her shoes. Both hands are positioned at the height of her stomach, her arms are covered by a long, hanging shawl. Her neckline is exposed, and together with her face is painted white. Delicately defined eyes and eyebrows, a graceful nose, small red lips, and high-piled black hair capture the elegance and beauty standards of Tang court ladies.
