Pair of Antique Dutch 835 Silver Rococo Openwork Holders – Possibly Salt Cellars or Sweetmeat Dishes – c. 1900

Description:
An elegant and richly detailed pair of antique Dutch 835 silver holders, crafted in fine Rococo openwork style. These were likely intended to house removable glass inserts (not included) and could have functioned as salt cellars, sweetmeat dishes, or other table accessories.

Origin: The Netherlands
Date: Circa 1900
Material: 835 Silver (hallmarked, partially visible)

Lighter holder (with damage): 43 grams

Dimensions:

Larger: 8 cm high, 5 x 5 cm
Smaller: 7 cm high, 4.5 x 4.5 cm

Design & Craftsmanship:

Exquisite pierced silverwork in Rococo style, with scrolling foliage and figurative or floral motifs.
One holder features a detailed repoussé scene of a couple in a pastoral setting; the other features more naturalistic elements including leaves and birds or butterflies.
Both pieces rest on stylized claw feet — note: one leg is partially missing on the smaller holder, which slightly affects balance.

Condition:

In good antique condition with visible patina.
One leg is broken on the smaller piece.
Glass inserts are missing, which was common in these types of multifunctional holders.
No major dents or tears in the silverwork.
