This beautiful Czech uranium cased glass bowl was designed by Jaroslav Beranek at the Skrdlovice Glassworks in 1953 within the iconic Andromeda series. This range is distinguished by its spiralling surface on simple forms, like this oval dish. The spiral was created by hand as the tightness of the twist varies from piece to piece. The biomorphic, optical design is typical of the 1950s. The bowl measures 19 cm x 12 cm x 8.5 cm. It is in excellent conditiin, with hardly any signs of wear at all.
