卖家的描述
Description:
Anthropomorphic view of a house - Adspectus Incauti Dispendium (The Cost of Careless Looking) - shown is a medieval town with a house in the shape of a head, a skeleton climbing up a ladder through a window. This head-house is more than allusive and symbolic, it is a weird building, never before allowed in architecture, an anomaly in the urban fabric, a singularity of irony and specimen from a dreamland that humbly stands outside of trend-setting modern or Heroic & Ordinary architecture --- Image from Veridicus Christianus (1601) from the first edition of Jan David (ca.1545–1613). Veridicus Christianus, issued in Antwerp by Jan Moretus at the Plantin Press. Theodor Galle (1571-1633) was the creator/engraver perhaps in cooperation with his brother Cornelis Galle (1576-1650)
Dimensions:
16,00 x 8,00 cm
Medium:
Engraving
Circa:
1601
Notes:
All measurements are taken on the plate mark. All lot's are listed with several high resolution images, which is the best way to give a clear and objective idea of the general very good condition. Textual condition description is limited, so please examine the images carefully and ask for more info if needed.
Condition:
Good impression on a sheet of laid paper with full margins. The figures in the background have soft old coloring from the period. Condition is very good with slightly thumbed margins.
