Ancient Roman Terracotta Oil Lamp Circa 1st-3rd century AD This interesting terracotta oil lamp has an elongated, tear-shaped body with a broad rounded shoulder and a large circular filling hole framed by a raised rim. The short rounded nozzle projects from the narrow end, with a drilled wick hole aligned on the central axis. The upper surface is decorated around the filling hole with a band of moulded motifs. The underside is formed with a ring base that neatly elevates the vessel.
