The works are hand-painted on silk and signed by the artist Sugihara Taisei, with his seal affixed on both scrolls. Sugihara Taisei (born 1943 in Tokyo) is known for his bird-and-flower, landscape, and carp paintings. He has served as head of the Tōnichi Painting Association and as a member of Tōbi Kyōdō, receiving recognition at numerous exhibitions. Cranes in Japanese art symbolise longevity, fidelity, and happiness. The pine tree represents steadfastness and endurance through all seasons. The tortoise is regarded as a powerful emblem of long life and stability, while bamboo symbolises resilience and strength, as it bends but does not break. Together, these motifs embody wishes for prosperity, vitality, and enduring harmony. The scrolls are mounted with brocade silk borders in gold and cream, with resin roller ends. Both the signed wooden storage box and certificate of authenticity are included, bearing handwritten titles, signatures, and seals. Condition: Both scrolls show minor blemishes on the painted surface and some foxing on the reverse, consistent with age. Overall, they remain in good used condition. Please refer carefully to the photographs for details. Dimensions: approx.
