卖家的描述

如同美丽的日本 Kōro(Incense Burner)一样,

Signed on the wooden storage box (tomobako)

An impressive Japanese bronze incense burner (kōro), raised on three legs and surmounted by a finely modeled shishi (mythical lion-dog) finial, symbolizing protection and auspicious power. The domed lid is pierced with a kikkō (hexagonal tortoiseshell) openwork pattern, allowing incense smoke to rise gracefully.
The rounded body is richly decorated in high relief with peony (botan) blossoms and scrolling karakusa foliage, motifs traditionally associated with wealth, honor, and prosperity. The contrasting textures—polished highlights against a deep, warm patina—demonstrate skilled metalwork and careful finishing.
The kōro is accompanied by its original wooden storage box (tomobako) bearing handwritten Japanese calligraphy and a red artist’s seal, attesting to the work’s authenticity and workshop origin. Such original boxes significantly enhance collectability.
This elegant incense burner is suitable for tea ceremony display (chadō), Buddhist altar use, or as a refined decorative object in a Japanese art collection.
