賣家描述
Collection of Saharan Neolithic Flint Projectile Points (7 pieces)
Group of hand-knapped prehistoric projectile points and small blade tools made of flint/chert (microcrystalline quartz).
Origin: Sahara region, Mali (North Africa)
Dating: ca. 7000–5000 BCE (Neolithic period)
The lot contains seven individual pieces of varying size and typology, including small arrowheads and larger cutting or spear-type points. The largest example measures approximately 5.5 cm.
The objects display clear flake scars produced by pressure flaking and soft-hammer percussion techniques. Several pieces show natural desert patina and mineral surface weathering consistent with Saharan surface finds. Minor edge wear and ancient chipping are visible and consistent with prehistoric utilitarian use.
Such tools would originally have been hafted into wooden shafts using natural plant resin and animal sinew and used by early pastoral hunter communities for hunting and processing animal hides and meat.
Condition:
Good archaeological condition. No modern restoration. Natural wear, minor ancient losses and surface weathering appropriate to age.
Provenance:
From a former private collection assembled before 2010 and later acquired on the European antiquities market in 2021. Previous collection documentation accompanies the lot (copy supplied to the buyer).
The seller warrants that the objects were legally obtained and may be legally sold and owned within the European Union.
