Biography
Manabe Akikatsu (1804-1884)

A daimyō active from the late Edo to early Meiji periods.
The pseudonym is Shōdō, the childhood name is Akiyoshi (詮良), the courtesy name is Jigō (慈郷), and the common name is Etsunoshin (鉞之進).
He was the 7th lord of Sabae Domain in Echizen Province, succeeding his uncle in 1814.
Held key posts in the Tokugawa shogunate, including Sōshaban, Jisha-bugyō, Osaka-jōdai, Kyoto Shoshidai, and Nishimaru Rōjū.
Resigned in 1843 after conflict with Mizuno Tadakuni.
Reappointed rōjū in 1858 under Ii Naosuke, took part in obtaining imperial sanction for the U.S.–Japan Treaty and in the Ansei Purge.
Later clashed with Ii and resigned, retired in 1862 with reduced stipend.
Released from house arrest in 1865 and died in 1884.
