賣家描述
Old Keris Hilt – Madura, Indonesia
An attractive old keris hilt from the island of Madura, Indonesia. The handle is carved from a dense hardwood and has developed a deep, rich patina through long handling and age. The smooth surface and softened contours testify to years of use and careful preservation.
The elegant curved form is characteristic of Madurese keris hilts. The sculptural shape fits comfortably in the hand and shows the refined sense of proportion typical for traditional keris craftsmanship. The wood displays a warm tone and subtle surface wear, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the piece.
This hilt was once part of a traditional keris dagger, an object of great cultural and symbolic importance in Indonesian society. Beyond its function as a weapon, the keris is regarded as a spiritual and ceremonial object, often associated with status, heritage, and personal identity.
Today the hilt stands as a small but powerful example of Indonesian wood carving tradition. Its strong form, beautiful patina, and authentic character make it an appealing piece for collectors of ethnographic art, Indonesian weaponry, or keris-related material.
Madura, Indonesia.Estimated age: early to mid-20th century.Material: hardwood with deep natural patina.Condition: good, with minor wear consistent with age and former use.
