賣家描述
Pre-Hispanic Veracruz Smiling Figure with TL test (c. 500-900 AD). Ceramic 43,8 cm.
This smiling figure from Veracruz (500-900 AD), made of ceramic and measuring 43,8 cm in height, represents a standing character with open arms in an expressive gesture. Its face displays a wide smile, characteristic of the "sonrientes", with stylized facial features and a headdress on the head. It wears a pectoral and a loincloth, common elements in the attire of these sculptures. Its proportions, with a large head and short limbs, follow the traditional style of the region.
The piece belongs to the sculptural tradition of the Gulf Coast of Mexico, specifically to the Classic Veracruz culture. These types of figures have been found in ceremonial and funerary contexts, suggesting a ritual or symbolic use.
