賣家描述
Description:
Scheenstia mantelli(巨型梭鱼)
巴里亚阶 – 下白垩纪
法国法国省 Charente,Cherves-de-Cognac
exceptional fossil concretion containing a dense natural accumulation of thick ganoid scales belonging to Scheenstia mantelli, a large prehistoric gar-like fish from the Early Cretaceous.
This specimen originates from the renowned Berriasian deposits of Cherves-de-Cognac (Charente, France), a classical European locality famous for its phosphatic vertebrate-bearing levels.
The block displays numerous 3D preserved ganoid scales with a glossy black ganoine surface. The scales are preserved three-dimensionally within a natural sub-circular phosphatic concretion, formed in a shallow coastal to lagoonal environment approximately 145–139 million years ago.
The matrix is fully natural, compact and heavy, characteristic of the phosphatized horizons of this locality.
No restoration. No artificial assembly. Completely natural specimen.
Dimensions:
14 × 9 × 5 cm
A visually striking and scientifically important Lower Cretaceous specimen from a well-documented French locality — ideal for collectors of rare Mesozoic vertebrates and ganoid fish material.
