19th Century Heavy Stone Celt – Cyclops Mountains, North Papua

Impressive and unusually long stone celt originating from the Cyclops Mountains, North Papua.

This example stands out for its exceptional weight and elongated proportions. Celts of this mass are rarely encountered. The powerful shaping and balanced form indicate not only functional use but also status and value.

In the Cyclops region such heavy celts were highly prized and functioned as important barter objects within local exchange networks. Ownership reflected wealth and prestige.

A strong and authentic example of Papuan stone technology, with clear age and character.
