賣家描述
INDUS VALLEY IDOL STATUE

This terracotta fertility idol is hand-formed, with a hollow conical body, firm breasts sustained by a serpentine arm and a slender neck.
The abstract face consists of a prominent nose, pierced flat eyes, and a raised headband encircling its domed head.
Fertility idols of this type were produced for the first time in the Near East in the 9th millennium BC.
Fertility figures have been found throughout the region, made in various materials, stone and terracotta being the most common.
Many similar sculptures were uncovered in decorated rooms serving as sanctuaries in southern Anatolia, in the Indus Valley, and in the Near East (Canaan).
