賣家描述
Authentic antique decade resistance box dating to circa 1900. A classic precision laboratory instrument used in electrical testing, measurement and calibration work.
The instrument is housed in a solid polished wooden case with a warm aged patina and an original Bakelite top plate, a desirable early synthetic material widely used in pioneering electrical equipment. The upper section features a row of precision brass resistance modules with T-bar switching terminals, allowing calibrated resistance values to be introduced into an electrical circuit.
A period green label marked “50 OHMS” indicates the resistance range. The layout and construction are characteristic of early scientific and educational electrical apparatus used in laboratories, universities and technical institutes.
The visual combination of aged wood, dark Bakelite and naturally patinated brass creates a refined industrial aesthetic. The repeated geometric arrangement of brass terminals gives the piece a sculptural, architectural presence that works equally well as a display object.
A desirable collector’s piece representing the formative years of electrical science and material innovation.
Suitable for scientific instrument collections, early electrical equipment collectors, industrial interiors, museums and educational displays, as well as film and period set props.
Good original antique condition with visible age and use wear. The wooden case shows patina and surface marks consistent with age, including minor losses to the base trim. Brass elements retain an attractive natural patina. The Bakelite top plate is original and well preserved. Electrical functionality has not been tested.
