Table lamp made from an opalescent blown glass bottle (overlay or red cameo on milky white ground, characteristic flame/marble effect with vivid red drips and splashes running from the shoulder down to the base, subtle rose-violet iridescence under raking light), gilt brass fitting with E14 socket and shade absent (sold without). Original “Verrerie d’art Momignies” label affixed to the body (logo and text intact), accompanied by a small gold-coloured pendant tag hanging from a braided cord. The Verrerie d’art Momignies, founded in 1898 in the Belgian town of Momignies (Hainaut province) by associated French merchants, initially specialized in bottle-making and artistic glassware, producing decorative pieces in opalescent, iridescent or multicoloured glass in an Art Nouveau/Art Deco style. It is part of the rich Walloon glass tradition, neighbouring major crystalworks like Val Saint Lambert or Scailmont, and continues today as an industrial bottle factory (Gerresheimer Momignies). Provenance: private Belgian collection.
Condition: good for its age, glass intact without cracks or breaks, shiny surface with pronounced rose-violet iridescence in the red and marbled areas (typical high-quality Momignies opalescent effect), red drips with natural patina; normal wear traces (light handling marks, discreet limescale or haze spots in recesses, gilt brass fitting with superficial oxidation without active rust). Not electrically tested for safety reasons (original cable intact but aged, standard socket). Weight: 800 g. Dimensions: total height with socket 29 cm, maximum body diameter 9 cm.
