賣家描述
GENERAL
The Triumph TR4, introduced in 1961 and designed by the legendary Giovanni Michelotti, represented a bold step forward for the TR series by combining rugged British mechanicals with sophisticated Italian styling. This particular unit is a "Black Plate" survivor in spirit, having been imported from the sunny climate of California in 2007 to Denmark, where it has remained part of a prestigious private collection until now. The TR4 is highly regarded for its 2,138cc inline-four engine, which provides a torquey, reliable heart, and its distinctive "eye-lid" headlights and "humped" hood (to clear the twin carburetors). Being a California car originally, it benefits from a structural integrity often lost to cars from wetter climates.
BODYWORK & PAINT
The car presents in good overall condition, finished in a classic color that complements its Michelotti lines. It was repainted several years ago; while it still retains a healthy gloss and looks very presentable, there are some minor stone chips and signs of "road wear" consistent with a car that has been enjoyed. Notably, there is no evidence of the common rust issues found in European-delivered models. The chrome wire wheels are in fine condition, including a matching spare in the trunk along with the necessary center-lock tool. The soft top is easy to maneuver and functional, showing only a small mark on the top. It should be noted that a few tonneau cover buttons are missing in the center, though the cover can still be securely attached when the top is down.
TECHNICAL
Mechanically, this TR4 is a "good and honest" driver that starts and runs very well. It has recently undergone a professional mechanical check-over to ensure it is road-ready. The engine pulls strongly, and the car demonstrates the engaging, tactile gear changes these gearboxes are famous for. All primary gauges are functional, as are the windshield wipers and lights. Even the period-correct radio is in working order. While the cabin fan is present, its operation is currently silent and may require a simple fuse or motor check. While the tires have tread, they show signs of age; therefore, we recommend a new set of rubber if the car is to be used regularly for touring. The odometer reads 1.293 Miles but with a life of some nearly 60 years that reading is most likely not correct and needs to be considered with a 'pinch' of salt.
INTERIOR
The cabin reflects a car that has been well-maintained and protected from the harsh California sun. The dashboard and interior trim are in excellent shape, notably lacking the "sun cracks" typically found on unrestored export models. The seats show signs of use that add a lovely patina to the car; however, the upholstery remains intact. The driver’s seat requires some minor attention on the back side, and there is a visible crack at the top of the passenger seat as shown in the gallery. Overall, it remains a very comfortable and authentic place to spend time behind the wheel.
DOCUMENTS
The vehicle comes with a clear history of its transition from the United States to Europe. It has been documented as part of a Danish private collection since its arrival in 2007. While there is no specific paper trail regarding the older restoration, the car’s current physical condition speaks for the quality of the work performed years ago.
COLLECTION
This Triumph is currently located in Denmark and is ready for immediate collection. Its history of dry-climate ownership and recent storage in a private collection makes it an ideal candidate for a fly-and-drive or professional transport to its next home.
OTHER INFORMATION
This is a wonderful opportunity to acquire a robust and stylish British sports car that is ready for the open road. It strikes the perfect balance between a show car and a reliable driver—ideal for those who want to enjoy "fun in the sun" without the stress of a concours-queen. With its synchronized transmission and classic proportions, it offers a driving experience that is quintessentially British and endlessly rewarding.
