Large decorative white-ground lekythos inspired by Attic vase painting of classical antiquity.

The scene depicts Hermes as Psychopompos (guide of souls) in a typical funerary context. Such imagery is characteristic of classical Greek art and symbolizes the transition from life to the afterlife.

The composition is based on a work attributed to the Phiale Painter (circa 440–435 BC), whose original is held in the State Collections of Antiquities in Munich.

The vessel is made of ceramic and hand-painted. Unlike ancient originals, it was not produced using traditional firing techniques, but represents a careful artistic interpretation of a historical model.

With a height of 36 cm, this is an impressive and visually striking piece.
