賣家描述
Sarutahiko no Mikoto 猿田彦命 Tengu 天狗 Long‐Nosed Goblin Yokai / Japanese Bicchu Kagura wooden folk craft mask
Sarutahiko no Mikoto is a deity of the Japanese religion of Shinto, he is the leader of the earthly kami. Sarutahiko no Mikoto was also the head of the kunitsukami. He is depicted as a towering man with a large beard, jeweled spear, ruddy face, and long nose.
Tengu ("Heavenly Dog" or "Heavenly Sentinel") are a type of legendary creature found in Japanese folk religion. They are considered a type of yōkai (supernatural beings) or Shinto kami (gods).
Bold and forceful in its presence, this Bicchu Kagura wooden mask depicts Sarutahiko no Mikoto, the powerful guide‑deity who stands at the threshold between the human world and the realm of the kami. The exaggerated nose, fierce eyes, and bristling hair evoke the raw vitality often associated with tengu imagery, yet the underlying form retains the authority and dignity of a Shinto leader. The sharply carved planes of the cheeks and brow create a sense of forward momentum, as if the deity is confronting the viewer directly, while the vivid pigments and textured hair elements heighten its ritual intensity. This interpretation emphasizes Sarutahiko’s role as a path‑opener—unyielding, protective, and deeply rooted in the earthbound strength of kunitsukami tradition. Within a collection or interior, the mask brings a commanding, energetic presence, adding cultural depth and a sense of mythic guardianship to the surrounding space.
