Sarutahiko no Mikoto is a deity of the Japanese religion of Shinto, he is the leader of the earthly kami. Sarutahiko no Mikoto was also the head of the kunitsukami. He is depicted as a towering man with a large beard, jeweled spear, ruddy face, and long nose.

Tengu ("Heavenly Dog" or "Heavenly Sentinel") are a type of legendary creature found in Japanese folk religion. They are considered a type of yōkai (supernatural beings) or Shinto kami (gods).

Bold and forceful in its presence, this Bicchu Kagura wooden mask depicts Sarutahiko no Mikoto, the powerful guide‑deity who stands at the threshold between the human world and the realm of the kami.
