Bentwood Umbrella Stand in the Viennese Secession Taste, circa 1900–1920
Early 20th century umbrella stand, made in Central Europe and conceived in the Viennese Secession taste. The design is defined by a circular bentwood rim, a matching bentwood base, and a dynamic arrangement of slender twisted spindles. The interior retains its metal drip tray, which adds both function and visual contrast.
This piece works well as an umbrella or cane stand and also as a sculptural hall accessory. The open linear construction and restrained geometry are characteristic of early 20th century Central European design. Its value lies in the strong architectural silhouette, the bentwood workmanship, and the period decorative utility typology sought after in entrance and hallway furnishings.
Condition is good antique condition with visible age wear, surface marks, small losses and patina to the wood, consistent with long use. The metal tray is present. The structure presents well and retains its original period character.
Dimensions: height 67 cm, diameter 29 cm.
