Matthieu van Riel - Goldfinch on a Branch

I am interested in painting as the way old masters Rembrandt and Hals painted, with striking brushstrokes, precisely and confidently, to show clarity and vibrancy, but not interested in painting every feather, bird’s feet or twig exactly. Suggestion reflects much more the liveliness of a bird.

Painted on artist quality canvas (see image), painted with Golden, Winsor&Newton and Talens Expert professional top quality acrlylic paint and Talens Amsterdam quality acrylic paint. Ready to hang. A frame is not needed. The painting will be carefully packaged in plastic between two sheets of mdf to protect the painting, and shipped in a cardboard box.

I like walking in nature, along flower- and tulipfields, along the North Sea coast and the Atlantic Ocean, in polders, heathlands and forests in the Netherlands, The Alps, Pyrenees and rugged mountainous regions in Scandinavia.
Nature is in my mind. That is why many of my paintings are about nature, about landscape.

Unfortunately, in some images you can see the moiré effect, the wavy lines on the image. The moiré effect is caused by photographing the cotton I paint on, its structure. If you zoom in, the effect is usually gone. Information about the moiré effect can be found on the internet.
