Verrière Doyen - 花瓶 - FLORALIES - 玻璃, 紫水晶玻璃 - 装饰艺术风格 - 1930年代

Art Deco “Floraliès” Vase by Doyen Belgium, ca. 1930s A refined and characteristic example of Belgian Art Deco glass, this amethyst vase was produced in the 1930s by the Doyen glassworks in Havré-Ville (Mons), Belgium. The model belongs to the Floraliès line and is documented in the reference literature dedicated to Doyen production, where this distinctive form is identified and discussed. The shape is known as “Betterave” (beetroot), a name inspired by its rounded, organic silhouette. Standing 21 cm tall, the vase is hand-blown in richly colored amethyst glass. Its full, rounded body is accentuated by horizontal ribbing around the lower section, while the short neck is finished with a delicately worked rim. The proportions and sculptural profile give the piece a strong yet elegant presence typical of late Art Deco design. Entirely handmade, the vase retains the subtle individuality and soft variations that come with traditional glassmaking techniques. In very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Light surface wear consistent with age may be present, adding to the authenticity of a piece that is nearly a century old. A fine collector’s example of documented Doyen production, this vase blends sculptural form with deep color and remains a striking decorative object for both Art Deco and contemporary interiors. In the early 20th century, Jean-Baptiste Doyen and his son Gaston established a glass factory in Havré-Ville, near Mons, Belgium. Originally named Verreries Gobeleteries d’Havré-Ville, the company specialized in producing high-quality blown glassware, including tableware, lighting, and decorative pieces. Doyen’s work became particularly renowned for its Art Deco designs, featuring elegant shapes, refined engravings, and meticulous craftsmanship. A notable example is a set of mouth-blown glasses adorned with finely scoured olive shapes and intricate fan patterns, showcasing the exquisite attention to detail of the era. Among Doyen’s most celebrated creations is the “Floralies” series, which embodies the refined elegance of Art Deco design. Produced in the early 20th century, these vases are distinguished by their bold geometric forms, intricate detailing, and rich, vibrant colors. One of the most remarkable models, no. 150, crafted in the 1930s, features striking vertical stripes and a distinctive corrugated collar, often produced in warm brown glass. Many pieces from the series still bear the “Floralies” label, preserving their legacy and making them easily recognizable among collectors. Today, Doyen’s glassware remains highly sought after by enthusiasts and collectors of Belgian Art Deco pieces. Their timeless elegance and historical significance continue to make them prized additions to vintage collections, standing as a testament to Belgium’s rich glassmaking tradition and artistic heritage. Will be well packaged, protected and insured
