A large and fine Satsuma ceramic plate, measuring circa 25cm in diameter and weighing 956g, delicately painted in pastel enamels and abundant gold to depict various figural scenes with finely painted faces, on a ground of gold floral-geometric relief. Marked to the underside with generic Dai Nippon Satsuma Zo mark, abbreviated. Condition: Overall very good, One glaze line on the underside of the rim (does not go through to the front) no significant damages or repairs. Minor wear commensurate with age.
