Prehnite is a pale green to yellow-green silicate mineral, ranging from translucent to transparent, frequently used as a cabochon gem. It has a Mohs hardness of 6–6.5, a vitreous luster, and is noted for being the first mineral named after a person (Colonel Hendrik Von Prehn). Often found in South Africa and Australia, it is popular for its "soft" appearance.
