STATEMENT:
This abstract painting, created in 2026, explores the tension between movement and stillness in contemporary life. Working with layered acrylic gestures. Capture energetic actions and freezes them on the canvas, transforming motion into a space for contemplation. The result is a surface where intensity and silence coexist, inviting the viewer to slow down and engage with the present moment. In a world driven by speed and overstimulation, my work proposes a conscious act: to stop, to acknowledge movement, and from there, to inhabit stillness. Rather than representation, my painting seeks to create an experience - an opportunity to reconnect with the present and reflect on one’s own pace of life.
This piece comes directly from the artist’s studio in Italy. Alessandro Criscito’s work has been featured in Design Milk (USA), ArchDaily (Mexico), Yanko Design (Japan), TrendHunter (Canada), Experimenta (Spain) and La Revue du Design (France).
