賣家描述
背景信息:Standing male figure hand-cast in bronze using the traditional lost-wax (cire perdue) technique of the Cameroon Grasslands. The figure wears a tall conical ceremonial crown (a sign of high rank among the Bamoun) with small ball finials at the apex. The face is modelled with closed, almond-shaped eyes and a calm, composed expression typical of Grasslands court bronzes.
The figure holds a long staff or spear in the right hand and a shorter rod in the left; attributes associated with authority and guardianship in the royal courts of the western Cameroon Grasslands. The body is dressed in a tunic with incised diagonal cross-hatching, likely representing woven cloth or ceremonial scarification. Round kneecap elements and chunky feet are characteristic of the regional casting style.
The piece bears an authentic warm golden-brown patina consistent with age and use, with areas of darker oxidisation in the recesses. Minor surface irregularities and casting texture are inherent to the handmade lost-wax process. Each piece produced by this method is unique, as the mould is destroyed during casting.
Figures of this type were produced in the Grasslands region (primarily in and around Foumban, the historic capital of the Bamoun kingdom) and were associated with royal courts, ancestor veneration, and the commemoration of warriors and chiefs. They were traditionally commissioned by the fon (king) or notable families as prestige objects.
