Description:
This tea caddy features the "Akoda" shape, characterized by a rounded form with vertical grooves resembling the Akoda melon. It exhibits a matte texture known as "Aburaage-hada" (fried tofu skin texture) with a translucent quality. Green glaze accents are applied to the yellow surface. The item is stored in a Shifuku (silk pouch).
Artist Profile:
Born in 1948 in Akazu, Seto City, Aichi Prefecture. He succeeded to the name Kato Tozaburo XXXI in 1991. In 2008, he was designated as a holder of the Seto City Intangible Cultural Property "Ofuke" pottery technique. He served as a torchbearer for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in 2021.
