賣家描述
presenting an exquisite matched pair of Chinese Imari export porcelain plates, dating from the late 17th Century (Kangxi period).
These pieces beautifully showcase the classic Imari palette, which combines deep underglaze cobalt blue with vibrant overglaze iron-red and opulent gold enamels.
Design & Composition:
Central Roundel: Each plate features a bold central medallion depicting a stylized floral arrangement, likely a "Basket of Flowers" or a blooming peony, rendered in a rich, dark cobalt blue.
Border Design: The wide rims are masterfully decorated with alternating panels. Some panels feature deep blue "cloud-form" reserves, while others are intricately hand-painted with delicate floral sprays in iron-red and gold, creating a stunning visual contrast.¨
Aesthetic: The use of gold leaf (gilding) on these plates indicates they were high-status luxury goods destined for the grandest European country houses of the 1700s.
Condition Report:
In keeping with their 300-year history, this pair retains its antique charm with the following honest signs of age:
Plate 1: Shows a single hairline crack extending beneath the rim (visible upon close inspection).
Plate 2: Bears two small chips along the rim edge. The enamels and gilding remain remarkably bright and vibrant across both pieces.
Era: Late 17th Century / Early 18th Century (Kangxi Period).
Diameter: 22 cm each.
Style: Chinese Imari (Blue, Red, and Gold).
