*五徳A tool that is placed inside a hearth or brazier on which to place a kettle is called a gotoku. The most well-known are made from cast iron, but there are also ceramic ones.
A regular gotoku is used with the ring facing up, but in the case of the tea ceremony, the gotoku is placed with the ring facing down (with the prongs facing up) and the kettle is placed on the prongs.
