This is a magnificent piece by Okamoto Usaburo, the founder of "Usaburo Kokeshi," a traditional craft of Gunma Prefecture and a leading figure in Japanese creative kokeshi dolls (modern kokeshi dolls).

Utilizing the beautiful, warm texture of natural wood, the doll features the adorable face of a girl with a bob haircut, and the body is adorned with vibrant red and white plum blossoms, richly depicted using hand-painting and pyrography techniques.

With its substantial weight and stability, this is a superb item that would be greatly appreciated as an interior decoration, a collector's item, or a gift for someone overseas. The bottom bears the red square seal of "Usaburo Kokeshi."
