Édouard Henri LÉON learned his craft from the renowned academic painter Léon Bonnat (1834-1922), then brilliantly specialized in the art of engraving with burin and aquatint under Jules Jacquet (1841-1913).
Associated with the prestigious Salon des Artistes Français since 1906, he received numerous mentions and medals during his career. In 1908, his exceptional talent was crowned by the Belin-Dollet engraving prize. Renowned for his institutional rigor, he particularly distinguished himself by illustrating premier bibliophile works with his compositions, notably Paul Valéry’s play: "L'Âme et la danse" in 1926.
