"On a tranquil day when plum blossoms bloom, even distant Hatsushima feels close enough to hold in one’s hands."

Biography
Toda Eiji (1910-2009)
Meiji 43 (1910)-Heisei 21 (2009)
Born in Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture. A Japanese painter. He entered the preparatory course of Kyoto Municipal School of Painting in 1931. He was first selected for the Shinbunten exhibition in 1938. In 1953 he joined the Seitosha led by Ikeda Yoson. He became a lecturer at the special art course of Okayama University in 1968. He traveled to China in 1981 and to Bodh Gaya, India in 1984. He completed the Hieizan Kaiho picture scroll in 1991. He received an encouragement award at the Nisshun Exhibition in 2001.
