Title:
Fine Japanese Archaic Style Bronze Vase by Hoshu Shibuya - Cast Metal Flower Vessel (21cm)
Description:
Overview
This is an exceptional and heavy vintage Japanese bronze flower vase, masterfully cast in the classic archaic style (Kondou / Chuka-fudo) by the highly regarded metalwork artisan Hoshu Shibuya. The vessel features an intricate geometric and symbolic relief pattern inspired by ancient bronze wares, including prominent stylized taotie mask or dragon-eye motifs on the body, horizontal bands of mythical birds on the neck, and tall pointed arch friezes near the rim. This robust, substantial piece serves as a striking standalone art object or a sophisticated container for traditional botanical arrangements.
Details & Features
- Artist: Hoshu Shibuya.
- Style: Archaic Chinese/Japanese Ancient Bronze Revival Style, known for its deep, structured cast lines and historic ceremonial weight.
- Material: High-quality solid cast bronze with a beautiful, deep verdigris dark-grey patination that emphasizes the intricate relief textures.
- Markings: The artist's signature mark (Hoshu) is distinctly stamped/incised into the bottom surface to guarantee authenticity.
Condition
The vase is in excellent vintage condition, retaining full structural integrity with a very solid, heavy build. The cast details remain exceptionally sharp and well-defined. The dark, weathered patina is beautifully preserved, showing only very minor natural surface oxidation, slight interior residue from historical use, and subtle signs of careful handling consistent with its age. There are no dents, cracks, or deep structural damages. Please review the high-resolution photographs carefully to evaluate the overall condition.
