Roman unguentarium
/balsamarium from the 1st-2nd Century AD (Empire period). Size: 11 × 2 cm without the stand. 12 x 4 cm with the stand. The stand is included.

- Long, narrow neck: allowed controlled, slow pouring of oils, perfumes, or ointments.

This type of flask was most likely used to store perfumed oils, cosmetics, or medicinal liquids.
In the Roman period, such vessels (often called unguentaria) were used in daily grooming and hygiene, and were also commonly placed in burials as grave goods.
