Total weight: 400 g

A traditional skull‑bead mala composed of 25 carved skulls, originating from India or Nepal and associated with Hindu ascetics (sadhus) and tantric practitioners. Each bead is individually carved with expressive features and darkened incisions, creating a strong visual and symbolic presence. The mala ends with a light‑coloured cotton tassel, typical of devotional necklaces.
The strand has been re‑strung at a later date, a common and practical intervention for malas that remained in use over time.
Such malas are linked to Shaiva, Aghori, and Himalayan tantric traditions, where skull imagery symbolises impermanence, detachment, and spiritual fearlessness. They were worn during meditation, chanting, and ritual practice.
