A ginbari cloisonné shippō vase with a translucent ruby-red ground, finely engraved with a motif of chrysanthemums (kiku 菊).
The surface features the characteristic engraved workmanship that animates the ground, creating shifting reflections through the transparent enamel. On the front develops a rich decoration in polychrome enamels outlined with fine silver wires, depicting numerous blooming chrysanthemums.
Japanese cloisonné is one of the most refined forms of decorative art. Originally adopted from China, the technique was perfected by Japanese artisans during the Meiji period. The technique involves the use of vibrant polychrome enamels that create a metallic, glossy effect.
