賣家描述
Fidus [Hugo Reinhold Karl Johann Höppener], (1868-1948)
"Beichte", 1892.
Lithograph on cardboard, based on the famous original watercolor.
Hand-signed by the artist.
Sheet size: 28.5 x 25 cm.
Beautiful wood and glass frame: 36.5 x 30.5 cm.
Fidus was a central figure of the Jugendstil movement (and German Modernism) and the Lebensreform (life reform). This movement promoted a return to nature as Mother Earth, utopian nudism, and an alternative purity and spirituality distinct from traditional religions.
The work embodies the concept of "confession" from a mystical and pagan perspective. Instead of taking place in a closed church confessional, the scene shifts to the wilderness (often described as "Die Beichte im Wald" or confession in the woods), where the presence of a maternal figure or a woman with a child in her arms is identified.
VERY RARE in this format.
