The first published collection of Hockney's photographic work, issued in conjunction with an exhibition held at the Musée National d'Art Moderne, Centre Georges Pompidou. The included photographs were selected from approximately 100 albums assembled over a twenty-year period beginning in the 1960s. With an introductory essay by the artist on the subjects of his portraits - himself, Christopher Isherwood, Ossie Clark, Cecil Beaton, Rudolf Nureyev, Andy Warhol, his own mother and father.
