Model History:

The Seiko 6458-6000 belongs to Seiko’s early quartz diver range of the 1980s. It was produced as a compact alternative to the larger professional-style Seiko divers of the period, combining a robust steel case, screw-down crown, rotating timing bezel and 150-metre water-resistance marking with the everyday convenience of quartz timekeeping.

Powered by Seiko’s calibre 6458, this model features a day-date display with English and Kanji options, making it a Japanese domestic market example. With its approximately 37.5 mm case diameter, the 6458-6000 is noticeably more compact than Seiko’s larger 6309 and 7548 divers, while retaining the purposeful silhouette, luminous dial layout and strong wrist presence associated with vintage Seiko dive watches.

Condition:

The watch is in good overall vintage condition, with an attractive and purposeful appearance on the wrist. The stainless-steel case shows visible signs of previous wear, including light scratches, small marks and some softening around the edges, consistent with age and regular use. The screw-down crown is present and operates correctly.

The matte black dial is well preserved, with clear Seiko printing, crisp minute track and attractive aged luminous material on the hands and applied hour markers. The day-date display functions correctly and is set with an English/Kanji wheel. The new crystal is clean and scratch-free.

The black bezel insert remains presentable overall, although it shows visible wear and small losses to the printed surface, particularly around the lower-left section. The bezel teeth also show marks from use.

The watch is fitted with a new extra-long nylon strap. The quartz movement has been serviced, fitted with a new battery, and all functions operate correctly. It is supplied with a 3-month functionality guarantee.
