Polished Petrified Wood Slice – Triassic Period
An exceptional polished slice of petrified wood dating from the Triassic Period, approximately 200–230 million years ago. This remarkable specimen preserves the internal structure of an ancient tree, whose organic tissues were gradually replaced by silica-rich minerals over millions of years.
The polished surface reveals an elegant palette of natural tones ranging from soft cream and beige to warm grey, taupe, and subtle pinkish hues. Delicate growth rings remain clearly visible, radiating outward from the center and creating a mesmerizing concentric pattern. Fine mineral veins and natural fractures, accentuated by iron-rich mineralization, add further depth and visual complexity to the specimen.
The outer edges retain portions of the original external texture of the fossilized trunk, creating a striking contrast with the highly polished surface and emphasizing the specimen's authenticity. Variations in color, texture, and translucency are entirely natural and reflect the unique geological processes involved in the fossilization of this prehistoric wood.
Both scientifically fascinating and aesthetically refined, this specimen is ideal for collectors, interior displays, educational collections, and enthusiasts of natural history.
The specimen comes with the clear acrylic display stand shown in the photographs.
Geological Age: Triassic Period (approximately 200–230 million years old)
Stand: Clear acrylic display stand included.
