Wajima-nuri lacquer vase featuring a striking design of the rising dawn sun and elegant gold maki-e pine needles.
This handcrafted Japanese flower vase is finished in deep black natural urushi lacquer and decorated with an impressive textured vermilion-red sun representing the dawn (“Akatsuki”). Flowing beneath the sun are finely executed gold maki-e pine needles, a traditional symbol of longevity, resilience, and good fortune in Japanese art.
The minimalist cylindrical form highlights the refined beauty of Wajima lacquerware, one of Japan’s most highly regarded lacquer traditions. The vase comes with its original signed wooden storage box.
