該系列起源於 reliquia 的概念:跨越時間、承載意義與記憶的物件。單體石塊的形態呼應石頭的原型——原始而永恆的元素,而表面的侵蝕則暗示歲月的流逝、自然因素的作用與物質的持續變化。
嵌入其中的古典碎片成為見證,成為一種美的殘餘,能在邊界的受保護、被隱藏與被困之間浮現。
Relìqua 被設計成藝術與設計之間的混合物件:

MATTEO CIFFO
生於 1987 年的 Biella,自 2007 年起專注於以物質為中心的研究,探索其轉化與記憶所保留的力量。我的作品源自於與高貴且複雜的材料直接對話,如大理石與石粉、天然顏料、亞美尼亞土、氧化物與金屬。我不把它們當成單純的表達工具,而是活生生的在場,承載時間、歷史與再生的可能。
Through a process I regard more ritual than sculptural: a rebirth of stone guided by my hand. The practice arises from observation and the desire to restore life to what has been shattered, abandoned, or forgotten. Fragments and scraps, often from other sculptors’ work, become the raw material for my pieces.
These materials already carry a history. I decompose and recombine them, generating forms that no longer belong to their previous state, but to a new condition. Each work emerges from a fragile balance between loss and rebirth, between memory and possibility, making visible the moment when matter ceases to be what it was and becomes something else.
The path takes the form of a transformation that surpasses traditional sculpture, approaching an almost alchemical dimension. I use materials that have already lived for themselves, decompose and recombine them to generate new shapes and identities. Each creation grows from a tension between destruction and regeneration, between loss and memory, rendering visible a state of continuous change.
The research confronts materials that embody a deep contradiction: seemingly eternal and indestructible, yet at the same time sensitive and vulnerable. What seems immutable reveals an unstable nature, capable of reacting, oxidizing, and transforming over time. This condition makes matter an active participant in the work, engaged in a constant dialogue with time and environment.
Perfection yields to fragility, and eternity manifests as a living, human experience. Matter is not subordinate, but becomes co-author, preserving on the surface traces of gesture, process, and its own evolution.
Autodidakte, ho costruito il mio percorso attraverso sperimentazione, osservazione e ascolto. L’approccio non mira al controllo, ma all’accompagnamento del materiale nella sua trasformazione. Le forme risultanti riflettono il funzionamento della memoria: strutture in cui frammenti, tracce e assenze convivono e si rigenerano.
Questa pratica esplora la materia come archivio vivente. Le sculture emergono come presenze sospese tra rovina e rinascita, tra permanenza e trasformazione, restituendo alla materia una dimensione profondamente contemporanea e umana.
